Draws in the Mooting Competition are at random. Whoever is drawn out of the hat plays the next etc. This, like the FA Cup draw, enables exciting contests. One consequence of such is that you can get two talented teams facing each other early in the competition - with one being knocked out. An example of that occurred last Friday when Louise/Pascal defeated Roberto/Matthew in a moot that displayed the kind of skills you would expect in the later stages of the competition.

Hopefully, Roberto and/or Matthew will find a way back into the competition.

That being said, we could have a Wimbledon style seeding approach where say six teams are seeded - with  the draw designed to avoid them meeting before the quarter-final stage ['seeding' could be determined by Law Teachers with a criteria based upon performance throughout the year in terms of presentations, attendance, homework, etc).
